As from today the city of Kortrijk, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven campus Kortrijk, Howest and Katho link their hotspot-networks. Wherever there is coverage of hotspots from these organisations, students can easily and free access internet. The only thing they need is their eduroam login and password.

Eduroam stands for "educational roaming" and enables students and academic staff to access wireless internet. Lots of educational institutes in and outside Europe use the system and supply their wireless network to each other’s students.

Now the city has enabled Eduroam on it’s own network of almost 80 access points on 40 locations. By doing so the city wants to facilitate student-life and become more student-friendly. The installation of 2 outdoor antennas in the Magdalenapark next to the Howest campus is a good moment to start with this.
The city provides this service with the Financial support of the "Smart Cities" project. Smart Cities is supported by the European Regional Development Fund
