The city portal Bremerhaven.de provide new services and features

Bremerhaven re-launched the online city portal. At "www.bremerhaven.de" the new designed information pages for public services and tourism were presented to the public officially by the mayor of the City of Bremerhaven, Mr. Jörg Schulz.

Several new services and features are starting with the site re-launch of Bremerhaven.de as a modern smart city portal. The site re-launch was realized by the b.i.t. Bremerhaven.
The focus of the project was to start a “one entry page” for all institutional information and websites in relation with Bremerhaven
After the re-launch Bremerhaven.de is a new homepage as an entry page which lead to a subset of pages with several department information.

The main issues for the site- re-launch are:

1. At first the re-launch was a restructure project. That means to create a central access to all important web based information and sites, in focus of administration, tourism and additional citizen issues in Bremerhaven.

2. Furthermore was the re-launch an impulse for a design of an “overall concept” as a modern corporate design for official web pages in Bremerhaven.

3. A techniques update. To implemented web techniques to promote more multimedia-based elements to get more attractiveness by the use of moving images, images galleries, videos, map-viewer elements, notice-board, etc.
Furthermore features for example:

a. The “public navigator” as a map based tool, for daily life purposes of the citizens in the region (where are road work–areas, administrative infrastructure, etc.)
b. An advanced search engine with a list of results and an additional word cloud as a weighted list of user-generated search requests.
c. Notice-board for citizens as a “search and offer”-area

4. Feedback tracking: As a kind of customer services, the site supported different feedback tracking systems to collect information about the contents and services as a kind of service center between site users and the responsible content manager.
The re-launch was a new approach to get directly in contact with the citizens and site users by dialogue instruments at each content area or by a comment and voting tool. For example, the user can rate an article in a range of one to six stars.
The citizen have a god imagine of the public department manager in Bremerhaven, while the persons are on the site by picture and can be contacted directly by email.

The operating experience and the basic adjusting of the features and the site content are the main work in July and August 2009.
