On February 9th 2009 a meeting of the steering group concerning the Smart Cities project took place in the town hall of Osterholz-Scharmbeck. Besides organisational questions concerning the project and financing there also was a discussion related to the buildup of the new portal.

Consensus of the discussion was not to implement a special solution. A special solution possibly wouldn’t be future-proof. Interoperability must be at the very fore. The next point of the discussion was the directive for services of the EU. Furthermore, the question if the use of chip cards and the digital signature really are suitable could not be finally be clarified.
