Porism presented the draft EU service list on the Customer Insight Conference. Service lists of the different Smart Cities partner countries have been mapped over the past months, providing a common tool for sharing information and knowledge on services.

Customer insight on local government agenda

Customer insight needs to be on the agenda of local government. This is what speakers and attendees of the Customer Insight Conference said in Cambridge past week. About 100 local government officials attended the conference in the Moller Centre in Cambridge. The conference was organised by Smart Cities and Norfolk County Council.

Hugger motorcycling campaign awarded

The "Hugger" campaign supported by the Smart Cities project has won the gold award by the national Local Government Communications competition. Together with the fostering campaign it will also be submitted for the Institute of Public Relations awards.

The Smart Cities Customer Insight conference will look at understanding who your customers are and what they need in the context of redesigning and marketing services to meet these more effectively but also achieve efficiencies through joint working and moving people to less costly access channels.

New homepage for Kings Lynn in Norfolk

The third Homepage was launched in Kings Lynn (Norfolk County). We have also been preparing for the evaluation of the HomePage project by the Plunkett Foundation. A visit takes place on July 28th where they will talk to NCC staff and community groups. An online questionnaire is on the three web pages for the public and voluntary groups.

New customer profiling projects in Norfolk County

The county has started a number of campaigns based on customer profiling:
• encouraging safer driving by young drivers
• encouraging safer driving by middle aged male motorcyclists
• persuading older drivers to take eye and health tests and top up their skills
• persuading younger professionals to foster children in the care of the local authority

Hacking the state: Norfolk introduces open data

A workshop in Norwich tells businesses how they can benefit from the opening up of government data. Internet co-founder Sir Tim Berners Lee believes this will make a huge difference to the way the web works and heads up a new Institute of Web Science to open up the vast amount of data held by government, councils and other public bodies and realise the economic benefits.

Norfolk County reduces teenage pregnancy by profiling

The Norfolk County Council, health service and others have been working together for a number of years to try and reduce levels of teenage pregnancy and have already done some mapping of young people at high risk - both using tools like Experian's MOSAIC - which has a teenage pregnancy profile - and targeting individuals at risk via knowledge in schools.
