The esd-toolkit contains a service list of about 700 local government services, publicly available and subject to changes by the esd community.
Each service has a unique number and maps to several taxonomies including: a generic departmental tree structure, public website navigation structure and a list of audience types relevant to each service.
The UK service list is used by esd-toolkit, but central government and by individual local authorities for sharing information according to well defined semantics. See also www.esd.org.uk/standards

In none of the other partner countries (except UK) national service lists are in use. In some of the partner countries initiatives have been started up to start with a national service list, but these are early efforts.

The Smart Cities partners agree on making an EU service list. This list will be used to benchmark services, and to relate services in order to use background information from the esd toolkit (profiling information).
